Well I have to say we did well against the Welsh 2 - 0 not a bad drubbing and to be fair if we had a half keen team we'd have stuffed them. Terry as Captain was a bit of a non story in the end he didn't play badly but he along with several others so need to be on the bench more leaving the youth to progress our national game in the only way they know. Big fan of Joe Hart, Ashley Young, James Milner, Jack Wishire etc but Terry, Lampard, Johnson, Dawson good that they were are not up to it. Fine they can still cut it in the EPL but internationals are beyond them now. Look at the Ghana game, brilliant and for once the result didn't matter because we played how we should play. Yes a win would have been better and Jagielka will learn better but what a game. The only downside was Barry. Made Captain for all the right reasons and he played better, as the commentator said, better than he has for ages and why? cos he's been dumped on the bench and not guaranteed a place funny how that focusses the mind in these 'experienced' players. For me let know man believe he is unplayable and make them all only play in the first 11 becuase they are in form, fighting fit and raring to run their arses of for their country. Want to be a hero? Put on a Soldier. Sailor or Air Force uniform and fight for your country. Want to be a higly paid jessie that the whole world idolises? Run around a footie pitch for your country instead.

March already?
Spring has, well you know and I've not mentioned anything since Christmas. Shocker. Mind you the football has been in recess for most of Jan Feb except UK which proves that it is still a man's game there ... well almost and certainly more so than the rest of Europe where they need a rest cos of the cold all together now awwww.
This week I'm moved to write not only because the Champions league is up and running again but the debacle if that is indeed what it is over the England Captaincy too. Well that and going on record as saying Rooney's goal the other week was one of the games greatest and ranks alongside Mark Hughes' goal in that FA Cup game as one of the best of all time. That and Rooney for all his faults played magnificently against O.M. alongside Chicharito top drawer. I must remind you that before the season started I said Real Madrid would win the Copa del Rey and they are in the final against Barca so on course for my one prediction. I still believe Real and Chelsea will meet in the final of the CL. It may seem unlikely but Barca's run of easy teams in the Copa and now in the CL quarter final must come to an end eventually? I think both Chelsea (against Man U) and Real (Tottenham) are the two pick draws both are fairly evenly matched no matter what the Spanish think of Real Harry hasdone good with Spurs and will give a good account. In fairness I don't mind them winning but I'd like to see that Real / Chelsea final.
As for the new England Captain? Well for me the fuss is about nothing. If Terry lost it because of his 'dalliance' (alleged) then Ferdinand should never have got it for his forgetting (alleged) to take his drug test and Gerrard for his punch up in that bar. As far as the role is concerned as I mentioned her ebefore a total retread of the England team was needed and looks like not happening. I would give Rooney the Captains band it might ensure he keeps his temper like it did with Beckham and there is no doubting his loyalty to the shirt. Terry although seemingly back to some form with Chelsea is not now fast enough at international level and becoming a liability. We need new leadership with youth and invention not the same old pass it back to John then to Lamps, back to John etc etc a bit like they do for Chelsea except leave Fernando out incase he scores too many. Immediately he's reinstated the papers run interviews where he is saying it should never have happened whether he did or not I bet he's thinking it and to be honest as an England fan I'm tired of these player self promoting when for England it should be 'expenses' only no pay and for the love of the country. I know it'll never happen.
